Forecast for December 31, 2010

New Year's Eve:
It will be another gorgeous winter day across the Mid-Atlantic Region as a High pressure system remains in control of our weather. Winds will be light as temperatures climb into the mid to upper 50s!

Tonight:
Skies will be clear and winds light as temperatures stay above freezing through the overnight hours. Lows will be in the mid 30s in the city with lower 30s possible in the outlying suburbs.

New Year's Day into Next Week:
We will start off 2011 with temperatures rising to near 60 degrees in DC. The one factor that could limit our highs will be clouds and potential showers that will move in during the afternoon. Chances for rain will continue on Sunday as well. Temperatures next week will return to more seasonal values.

Forecast for December 23, 2010

My flight that requires me to wake up at 4:00 am will hurt my blog a little bit, but I'll hit the main forecast points.

Tonight:
Winds will stay breezy as temperatures drop into the mid 20s.

Tonight:
Winds will pick up out of the NW at 5-15 mph as we drop into the mid 20s underneath mainly clear skies.

Thursday through Christmas:
Thursday will be breezy but if you are flying anywhere the winds shouldn't cause to many delays. They will be gusting up to 30 mph out of the NW. Christmas Eve looks fairly quiet before the next system arrives on Christmas. Models are still not in agreement but they should come together in the next 24 hours. At this time it looks like the best chances for a white Christmas will reside to the S of DC. Chances for snow also look to be later on Christmas into Boxing Day.

Flier:

Forecast for December 21, 2010

Saturday during the day looks dry, but Saturday night some snow may move in. It would continue into Sunday as well. Higher amounts will be to the east, and it may miss us entirely. Follow me @hamblinj to receive latest updates through the weekend. After this system moves through it's looking like pretty safe travels for leaving from DC through Christmas.

Forecast for December 16, 2010

Today:
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the DC metro area today. Expect snow to develop across the area during the morning and midday hours. A coating to 2" is possible for spots inside the Beltway with higher amounts to our South. The snow will be done in time for the evening rush hour, but still anticipate head aches as people reaccustom themselves to driving in the snow.

Tonight:
Skies will stain mainly cloudy and that will keep us from dropping off too much. Lows will be in the mid 20s after we reach the upper 20s for our highs.

Friday through early next week:
Friday will be our nicest day in the next five as temperatures climb into the upper 30s underneath sunny skies. Winds will not be a major issue Friday either. Saturday looks dry but clouds will move back in as a system moves through. The system has been trending further eastward and now snow chances look low for the area. Sunday into next week stays cold with little to no precipitation through early next week.

Forecast for October 5, 2010

Today:
While the forecast for today won't win any awards, it will be much improved from Monday. Monday we nearly tied a record low high temperature. We ended up beating it by just one degree as we hit a high of 57. For today an upper level low will continue to spin in the vicinity of DC. This will keep us from breaking out into mostly sunny skies. We will however see at least a few peaks of the sun. Temperatures will be more comfortable Wednesday afternoon after we start off the morning in the 40s. Tuesday night we will remain under gray skies, and bring in a slight chance of rain during the overnight as a weak wave of energy brings us another shot at showers.

High: 62
Low: 50

Wednesday & Beyond:
A shot of rain will continue to be in the forecast through the morning hours. Conditions will finally improve Thursday and into the weekend. Currently the weekend looks absolutely perfect with highs in the 70s underneath sunny skies.
