Forecast for January 26, 2011

Today:
A winter storm watch remains in effect for the DC area with a winter storm warning in effect to our northwest. A winter storm watch means 5" or more of snow is possible. At this time during the day it looks like we will see a mix of rain/sleet/snow. It will changeover to all snow during the afternoon with 1-3" of daytime accumulation possible. Winds will be out of the North at 5-10 mph with high temperatures reaching the upper 30s.

Tonight:
Heavy snow will fall at times tonight, especially during the evening hours. If your commuting home tomorrow give yourself plenty of time and patience, because it will take much longer than usual to get to your destination. Snow will taper off by the overnight with storm totals ranging from 3" in SE DC/Metro to 8" or so in Loudon County. Snowbirds it looks like we can finally rejoice!

Thursday to Weekend:
Conditions look dry Thursday through Sunday. Temperatures Thursday and Friday will be hindered by the fresh snow pack, but 40s look possible by the end of the weekend.

Flier:
